ISIS supporter murdered schoolmate in Norway

Ahlul Bayt News Agency - A 19 year-old Norwegian man who stabbed a fellow student to death on Wednesday had shown an interest in the terror group Isis, and was considering travelling to Afghanistan to fight, police said on Thursday.

Police were called to the man's apartment in Mandal, a tourist town in western Norway, after neighbours heard shots ringing out. When they arrived they found 19-year-old Joakim Ophaug Røkslan stabbed to death.

”Shots were fired, but the weapon was loaded with blanks” Terje Skaar, who is leading the police investigation told. ”The probable cause of death is several stab wounds. We don’t have evidence to suggest that he was shot.”

The man then drove off from the scene, at one point robbing a local road side restaurant at gun point for a bottle of water.

He was wearing a military style uniform and a flak jacket when police apprehended him shortly afterwards.

Both young men were students at Mandal High School, and were seen by others as close friends.

The man, who has confessed to murdering his friend, had an interest in military uniforms and weapons. Several cars were smashed in the parking lot outside his home, and an AK-47 rifle was found on the ground.

Police had contacted the accused man on an earlier occasion due to suspicions concerning terrorism.

The 19 year-olds lawyer, Sveinung Søndervik Johnsen, denied any link to terrorist groups.

”My client does not sympathies with IS,” he told Lindesnes. ”He is in bad shape. He says that he wishes that he was the one who was dead. That says a lot about his state of mind and how he has experienced what has happened.”

The police have questioned several witnesses about the 19 year-old’s interest and connection to terrorism.

Mandal police has declined to comment.

“We don’t wish make a comment on this information”, Nils Olaf Holbek of Mandal police told.
